- Giardiasis: This is an infection of the small intestine caused by the parasite Giardia lamblia. Metronidazole is commonly used to treat it.
- Amebiasis: Metronidazole is used to treat amebiasis, an infection caused by Entamoeba histolytica, which can affect the intestines or liver.
